Library
Cards
Card privileges are available to all residents of
Michigan. Macomb County Library also accepts library cards
issued by those libraries belonging to the Suburban Library
Cooperative. Library cards are free and will be issued
upon in-person application at the library. Minors (under
age 16) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
A valid Michigan driver's license or state
identification card with current address must be presented by
applicants age 16 and older. Those lacking the above may
present two of the following types of identification:
- Property tax receipt
- Voter registration card
- Utility bill
- Bank statement dated within the last 6
weeks
- Michigan motor vehicle registration
Cardholders are responsible for all
use of their library cards. Macomb County Library should
be notified immediately of loss or theft of the card.
Replacement cards cost $2.00.
Loan Periods
All materials belonging to Macomb County
Library circulate for a three-week loan period. The
exception is Sams Photofacts, which circulate for one week.
Customers who check out materials from the
County Library that are owned by libraries in the Suburban
Library Cooperative will be assigned due dates by the owning
library. The loan periods may be shorter than those of the
County Library.
Cardholders who have email addresses in
their library record will receive a "courtesy notice"
two days prior to the due date for library loans.

Library and libraries belonging to the Suburban Library

Library users having fines or fees in excess of $5 will lose
their privileges until those charges are paid.
Library users are responsible for
materials and equipment checked out to them. Materials or
equipment that are returned with damage will be assessed
costs.
* The purpose of the
library's overdue fines is to encourage return of the library's
materials. You will be given every opportunity to return
materials before replacement and processing fees are assessed. |
