       Foundation & Fundraising

The Foundation and Nonprofit Collection was established to help community agencies, local units of government, and other nonprofit groups locate private and corporate foundations to provide funds for new or ongoing projects.

The Collection includes materials on how to start nonprofit organizations, manage boards and trustees, plus fundraising basics, tips, and advanced ideas.  The collection includes books, videos, newsletters, and two online Foundation Center databases.

The collection may be used to:

  • Locate potential foundations and/or corporate sources of funding for your organization or you.
  • Create and run a nonprofit organization.
  • Learn fundraising strategies and techniques.
  • Learn how to prepare and submit grants.  Grant writing is a major part of fundraising.
  • Improve your grant writing skills.
  • Learn about the legal and financial responsibilities of nonprofits.
  • Develop and run volunteer programs.
  • Improve nonprofit management skills.
  • Assist in board and trustee development.

Grants & Related Resources
and
Nonprofit Fundraising Web Resources

Compiled by Jon Harrison of Michigan State University.  This is a fine listing of Internet based and book resources, "Related to funders, financial aid, and fundraising,"  to assist with grant writing.  We have many of the books available here at the Macomb County Library.  However, our "Foundation" databases, listed above are much better than any free online resources.
